The PRYO is an online youth orchestra serving young musicians all over the USA. We are dedicated to playing string orchestra repertoire from the Renaissance until now. We have premiered pieces written for the PRYO, played authentic film scores, as well as arrangements of popular music.
Currently, we rehearse online every Saturday. We are making multi-track recordings and performing virtual concerts.
Conductor Todd Kovell founded the PRYO, a community orchestra in Seattle. He is an award-winning composer whose pieces have been played not only at Benaroya and other Seattle venues, but in Europe and Australia as well. A graduate of the composition department at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory, Todd currently teaches theory classes at the Seattle Film Institute's film scoring program, where he was hired by Emmy-award winning composer Hummie Mann. Todd is a pro at arranging difficult pieces to make them playable for anyone.
The PRYO is perfect for young musicians who miss the camaraderie of rehearsing together in person. Our online youth orchestra allows musicians to meet, and make music with, others like them around the country. We serve a variety of experience levels. Musicians play some pieces with the entire group, but also join smaller chamber groups to play with others of the same experience level.
