The PRYO is a youth orchestra in Seattle. We are dedicated to playing string orchestra repertoire from the Renaissance until Now. We have premiered pieces written for the PRYO, played authentic film scores, as well as arrangements of popular music.
We perform three to five concerts a year, including performing at the Royal Room and the Phinney Farmer's Market.
Currently we are making multi-track recordings online and performing virtual concerts.
Conductor Todd Kovell founded the PRYO, a community orchestra in Seattle. He is an award-winning composer whose pieces have been played not only at Benaroya and other Seattle venues, but in Europe and Australia as well. A graduate of the composition department at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory, Todd currently teaches theory classes at the Seattle Film Institute's film scoring program, where he was hired by Emmy-award winning composer Hummie Mann. Todd is a pro at arranging difficult pieces to make them playable for anyone.
The PRYO is perfect for students who love playing music, students without a school music program, or for families who can not afford the larger youth symphony associations.
We rehearse at the Phinney Neighborhood Association in Greenwood.
Presently we are rehearsing online.
